The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Portugal has appointed Rui Oliveira as their Chef de Mission for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

Oliveira – Secretary General of NPC Portugal – has extensive experience working in sport for many years, including sport for people with an impairment, and has recently worked on the structure of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Preparation Programme of NPC Portugal.

Portugal will be one of approximately 170 countries taking part in the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games from 8-17 September 2016. More than 4,200 athletes are expected to compete for the medals.

In London 2012, Portugal participated with 30 athletes who won three medals, one silver and two bronze.
