    Shooters line up for last World Cup ahead of Rio 2016

    Rio 2016 Goalball Test Event

    World champions Brazil, Paralympic gold medallists Finland, the USA and Lithuania will compete in a round robin tournament in Rio’s Future Arena, between 4 and 5 May. The best two teams will advance to the final.

    IBSA Blind Football Euro Challenge Cup

    Albania, Belarus, Georgia, Hungary, Moldova and Romania will contest the second edition of this event in Thessaloniki, Greece, from 3 May. The tournament is aimed at emerging blind football countries in Europe.

    Slovenian Open

    The 13th edition of this event in Lasko, Slovenia, from 3-8 May, will bring together some of the world’s best table tennis players. For more information, visit Slovenia Open website.

    UCI Para cycling Road World Cup

    The year’s first Road World Cup will take place in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, between 6 and 8 May, whilst Ostend, Belgium, will host the second one, from 20-22 May. The world’s best para-cyclists will use the event as good preparation for Rio 2016.

    Slovakian Open

    Some of the best table tennis players will head to Bratislava, Slovakia to compete at the Slovakian Open, from 10-15 May. Singles and team events will be contested. More information is available online.

    2016 Desert Challenge Games

    Between 13-14 May 2016, the sixth IPC Athletics Grand Prix will take place in Arizona as part of the Desert Challenge Games. More information is available online.

    ITU World Para triathlon Event

    Yokohama, Japan, will stage the third ITU World Paratriathlon event of the year on 14 May. The following day, the fourth one will take place in Aguilas, Spain. For more information, visit ITU Paratriathlon webpage.

    ICF Para canoe World Championships

    The world’s best Para canoe athletes will be in Duisburg, Germany, for this Rio 2016 qualifier between 17-19 May. Visit the event webpage for more.

    Japan Open

    The third leg of the ITF Super Series will be held in Fukuoka, Japan. Find more information at Japan Open webpage.

    2016 IWAS Wheelchair Fencing European Championships

    Casale Monferrato, Italy will stage the event from 17-22 May. The male and female gold medal-winners will qualify for Rio 2016. More information is available online.

    2016 Caixa Loterias Athletics Open Championship

    The Rio 2016 Olympic Stadium will host the seventh leg of the IPC Athletics 2016 Grand Prix, between 18 and 21 May, a meeting that will also act as Paralympic Games Test Event. More information is available online.

    1st African Para-Taekwondo Championships

    Competitions will take place on 22 May in Port Said, Egypt. Three events for men (-61kg, -75kg and +75kg) and three for women (-49kg, -58kg and +58kg) will be contested. Find more information here.

    BNP Paribas World Team Cup

    Tokyo, Japan, will be the host city of the wheelchair tennis equivalent of the Davis Cup and Fed Cup. More information is available here.

    Para World Sailing Championships

    The best para-sailors in the world will gather in Medemblik, Netherlands, between 21-28 May. Visit World Sailing webpage for more.

    Archery Parapan American Championships

    Between 24-30 May, in San Jose, Costa Rica, the individual compound W1 and recurve W1 events will be contested. For more information, visit the event website (in Spanish).

    IWAS Americas Wheelchair Fencing Championships

    Sao Paulo, Brazil, will host the regional competition, from 26-28 May. All the male and female champions will qualify for Rio 2016. More information is available online.

    IPC Athletics Grand Prix ParAthletics

    The eighth leg of the IPC Athletics Grand Prix will take place in Nottwil, Switzerland from 26-29 May. The track has a strong reputation for world records. More information is here.

    2016 Lisbon ETU Triathlon European Championships

    Portugal’s capital city will host the event on 27 May, attracting some of the best athletes in the continent. Check out the event general information here.

    International WDS Mainhatten Cup

    The third wheelchair dance sport event of the year will be held in Frankfurt, Germany, between 28 and 29 May.
