Six men’s and five women’s teams representing a total of six countries will contest the World Team Cup Africa Qualification at the Nairobi Club in Kenya between 14 and 17 February.

The Kenyan capital city welcomes the return of the regional qualifier for the International Tennis Federation’s (ITF) flagship wheelchair tennis team event.

The winners of the men’s and women’s events will earn qualification for the 2019 World Team Cup final, set to be held in Israel for the first time this year, from 13-18 May.

Nigeria top the seeding for the men’s event, for which Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa and Tanzania will be drawn in two pools of three nations.

Morocco emerged triumphant at last year’s edition after beating Egypt 3-0 in the final.

South Africa top the seeding for the women’s event, for which Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Tanzania will be drawn in two pools – one pool of two and one pool of three nations.

Kenya and Tanzania have contested the last two women’s finals at the Africa Qualification, with the former seeking a hat-trick of victories this year.

The top two nations in each of the men’s and women’s pools after three days of round-robin competition will go on to contest Sunday’s final to decide which teams will qualify for the 2019 World Team Cup finals.

In the Americas qualifiers held two weeks ago, Colombian women’s and US men’s teams advanced into the finals.

The Asian qualifiers will take place between 1 and 4 March, while the European ones from 2-6 April.
