Holiday Hotspot with Germany’s Markus Rehm23.04.2017
The German long jumper has won every title there is but where does he like to go on holiday?
The German holds the long jump T44 world record – a massive 8.40m, but he loves water sports as well as track and field; in 2005 he finished second in the German Junior Wakeboarding Championships. So perhaps it’s no surprise he’s chosen a beachside destination…
Markus Rehm - My Holiday Hotspot:
“Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands is somewhere I really like to go. I went there once and really, really liked the people there. In my summer holiday I like to go surfing. We had a nice group there and I enjoyed it.
“We went out surfing in the morning to catch some waves and then in the evening we met at the pool then went out to have a drink. It’s really, really relaxing and I spent it with some great people. It’s the place I really like to go.”
My two essential items:
“My sports prosthesis is always with me. Everywhere I go I take it with me.
“The other thing I can’t go without is my multi-tool. I’m a prosthetic technician and I can’t go a day without any tools. Especially if I go to do a sport like surfing I always need to adjust something. I always have the multitool with me. These are the two things I never forget.”
