The Netherlands and Germany were the most successful countries at the second UCI Para cycling Road World Cup of the year in Ostend, Belgium, from 18-21 May, securing five wins each.

Paralympic champion Jetze Plan (road race H4) and Edward Maalouf (road race H3) were the two Dutch male winners, whilst Rio 2016 two-time gold medallist Alyda Norbruis (time trial C2) and Carmen Koedood (time trial and road race H2) were the fastest amongst women.

Dutch Para cyclists have now achieved 12 wins over two Road World Cups, more than any other nation.

Germany celebrated in Ostend thanks to Paralympic champions Hans-Peter Durst (time trial T2) and Michael Teuber (time trial C1) in the men’s events, and Christiane Reppe (road race H4), Denise Schindler (time trial C3) and Andrea Eskau (road race H5) in the women’s races.

Ireland’s Colin Lynch was another who shone by winning the men’s time trial C2, whilst Australia’s three-time Paralympic champion Carol Cooke triumphed in the women’s time trial T2.

Para cyclists will now travel to Emmen, the Netherlands, for the last World Cup of the year from 30 June-2 July.
