    Colorado Springs Hosts IPC Governing Board

    Last weekend, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Governing Board (GB) concluded its 52th official meeting in Colorado Springs, USA.

    Said IPC President Sir Philip Craven: “The days here in Colorado Springs have been really productive and we have covered a lot of ground. In particular the Board was very satisfied with the progress made by the IPC-INAS working group on the development of an on-site sport-specific assessment tool."

    During two successful days of meetings at the US Training Centre in Colorado Springs, HQ of the US Olympic Committee (USOC) and US Paralympics, the GB discussed and approved several issues, including the adoption of the audited accounts and financial results of the Financial Year 2008.

    Furthermore, the GB approved the action plan presented by the IPC/INAS-FID Working Group as well as a policy for recognizing International Federations, a position statement on Boosting, the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games Classification Programme and a new set of IPC Ethic Procedures, Rules and Regulations. The Board also received updates on the work of various IPC Standing Committees and Councils.

    Before the Board meeting, Sir Philip, IPC Governinig Board member Greg Hartung and IPC CEO Xavier Gonzalez met with USOC Chairman Larry Probst and USOC CEO Stephanie Streeter in Denver to discuss the development of Paralympic Sport in the US.

    The next Governing Board Meeting will take place in June 2009 in Whistler, Canada.
