Athletes took strong finishes in the Swimming competition, finishing the week-long 2010 BT Paralympic World Cup in Manchester, Great Britain.

With Swimming taking place on 31 May, athletes from all around the world took the opportunity to bring in the best results possible. And for the first time this year, a team challenge was introduced for the World Cup, with Great Britain taking on teams from the Americas, Europe and the Rest of the World. In competition, athletes represented their regions and their results went toward the overall BT Paralympic World Cup trophy.

Overall, the Rest of the World region took the top position in terms of Team Trophy points with 120, followed by Europe (110), Great Britain (105) and America (65).

For the final day of Swimming, the Men's 100m Backstroke (S8) saw Thomas Young and Sean Fraser from Great Britain taking first and second place respectively. Coming in third was Daniel Schafer, who represented Europe. In the Women's 100m Backstroke (S6), another athlete from Great Britain, Nyree Lewis, took first with a result of 42.80. Following Lewis were Fuying Jiang and Julia Castello Farre who both represented the Rest of the World.

For the Men's 50m Freestyle (S7), Great Britain's Matthew Walker took first with a result of 28.51. Following Walker were compatriot David Roberts and Lantz Lamback who represented America. In the Women's 50m Freestyle (S8), Shengnan Jiang and Yanru Xu took first and second respectively, both representing the Rest of the World. Coming in third position was Amanda Everlove who represented America.

The final day of Swimming was highlighted by one of Great Britain's top athletes, Eleanor Simmonds, who took first and broke her own World record in the Women's 200m Individual Medley (S6). Simmonds was followed by compatriot Natalie Jones and Europe's Verena Schott.

The Swimming competition was broadcasted live from the Manchester Aquatics Centre on its final day on BBC Television, the official televised partner to the event.

Taking place from 25-31 May, athletes competed at world class venues in Manchester for the 2010 BT Paralympic World Cup, including the Manchester Regional Arena for Wheelchair Basketball, Football 7-a-side and Athletics, and the Manchester Aquatics Centre for Swimming.

The 2010 BT Paralympic World Cup was sanctioned by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), the Cerebral Palsy International Sports & Recreation Association (CPISRA) and the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) and supported by BT, ParalympicsGB, the FA, Manchester City Council and the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA).
