Blind football continued its development across Central America with another tournament taking place in Guatemala, in August.

All games were contested at the rehab centre of the Guatemalan Committee for the Blind and Deaf (Comité Pro-Ciegos y Sordos de Guatemala), a purpose-built blind football ground.

Local team Los Tiburones (The Sharks) took gold ahead of Nicaragua and El Salvador, who completed the podium. Honduras ended fourth.

The event was supported by the Directorate General for Physical Education and the Guatemalan Ministry for Education and Sport.

This is the second blind football tournament that Guatemala has staged following the inaugural Central American Championships in 2017. Costa Rica won the title following a win over the hosts on penalties in the final to become the first Central American country to qualify for a World Championships.

At Madrid 2018, Costa Rica finished in 14th place after achieving their first victory ever against South Korea 2-1.
