The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has announced the archery Ones to Watch ahead of the 2019 World Archery Para Championships from 3-9 June in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.

These are athletes who have the potential to make headlines, especially with the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games fast approaching. Their biographies are now available on the IPC website.

    Alberto Simonelli (ITA)

Two-time Paralympic silver medallist broke his own world record in the men’s compound open this year.

    Andre Shelby (USA)

Men’s compound open 2016 Paralympic champion is going for his first individual World Championship title.

    David Drahoninsky (CZE)

Despite not medalling at the last World Championships, the 2015 men’s W1 champion has proven over and over that he should never be counted out of the podium.

    Jessica Stretton (GBR)

Winning Paralympic gold at just 16 years old, Stretton is expected to add more to her collection ahead of Tokyo 2020 in the women’s W1.

    Marcel Pavlik (SVK)

World No.1 in the men’s compound open is out for his first individual gold medal.

    Wu Chunyan (CHN)

Caused a major upset by beating Iran’s Zahra Nemati for gold at the 2018 Asian Para Games in the women’s recurve open.

    Zahra Nemati (IRI)

Reigning Paralympic and world champion in the women’s recurve open is also the most popular Para archer.

    Zhou Jiamin (CHN)

Won her first major gold at Rio 2016, and justified her talent at the 2017 World Championships in the women’s individual compound open.
