The Americas Paralympic Committee (APC) announced the names of the candidates who will stand for election to APC President on 21 August at the General Assembly in Lima, Peru.

There are three candidates aiming to lead the Paralympic Movement in the Americas for the next four years (listed in alphabetical order; nationality and nominating body in brackets):

    -Julie Dussliere (USA – USOC)

-Julio Cesar Avila (Colombia – NPC Colombia)

The President will be elected by the APC membership which consists of its 33 National Paralympic Committees. The APC Governing Board is made up of one President, one Vice President, three Members at Large and one Athlete Representative.

Argentina's Jose Luis Campo was elected founding APC President in 1997 and served two terms until 2005, when he was replaced by Brazil’s Andrew Parsons. Colombia’s Octavio Londono was President from 2009-2013.
