Jetze Plat is an athletic machine whom no other man in the PTWC category has been able to keep up with.

His outstanding form came through with another dominating victory at the 2018 World Triathlon Grand Final in Gold Coast, Australia. It came after he won a pair of titles at the 2018 Para Cycling Road World Championships a month earlier.

But that impressive feat was nothing new.

In 2017, Plat also won three world titles in two different sports. It was not enough for the Dutchman. So he took on the ultimate challenge for every triathlete – the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii, USA. He completed the 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile run course in a time of 8:41:47, securing his fourth world title of 2017.

He competed in road cycling at the London 2012 Paralympics but was disappointed with his fourth place finish in the road race. When it was announced that triathlon would debut at the Rio 2016 Paralympics, Plat turned his focus to the sport which he had been doing since 2009.

In Rio, he took a bronze in the cycling road race, but his historic triathlon gold was when Plat solidified his name among the top Para triathletes. He has remained unbeaten in his category since May 2016, when he won the European Championship title.

Plat was born with a shorter left upper leg and no ligaments in his left knee. In 2008 his lower right leg was amputated.
