    Code Compliance

The 2015 Athlete Classification Code defines that “The IPC will take appropriate action to ensure Compliance with the Code and the International Standards by its members, …” (Article 12.1.2); and that “A list of all members with Classification Rules in Compliance with the Code will be made public by the IPC on 1 January 2018.” (Article 13.1.2).

For this purpose, the IPC Classification Committee developed an Athlete Classification Code International Federation (IF) Compliance Review Strategy, which detailed both the mechanism of compliance review as well as the specific criteria that must be complied with.

The process was initiated in early 2017 with an invitation to the IFs to conduct a self-audit process. Each IF was required to document how each criterion is met (by means of reference to the applicable rule, rulebook and/or supportive documentation), or document which process, including reasonable and realistic timelines, is in place to achieve compliance.

The IF Compliance Review Strategy was presented in detail at the Head of Classification Meeting, held in February 2017.

A list of all members with Classification Rules in Compliance with the Code was presented to the IPC Governing Board in September 2018. The results can be found in the attached document on the right hand side.
