The IPC Athlete Career Programme – developing lifelong excellence

Who is benefiting from the Athlete Career Programme?

The ACP supports both able-bodied and Para athletes under the two programmes: The IPC Athlete Career Programme and the IOC Athlete Career Programme. To date, the programmes have reached over 13,000 elite athletes from more than 100 countries. Since 2007, the number of Para athletes looking to participate in the ACP has grown continuously together with the geographical reach of the programme. With the support of the Paralympic Family, including NPCs, International and National Federations as well as employers, the ACP is fomenting inclusion and accessibility and makes sure, you athletes will be ready to tackle a next challenge during or post athletic career.

“Over the past 3 years Paralympics New Zealand and Adecco in New Zealand have built a strong and lasting relationship. The Adecco ACP programme provides our athletes with real opportunity for personal development whilst supporting athletes’ transition to life after sport. The relationship however goes deeper than that. Adecco New Zealand is a valued partner and stakeholder and has assisted PNZ in many areas including recruitment services, temporary human resource and valued connections to the business community. It is a relationship that is of high value to PNZ and one which continues to grow.”

Fiona Allan, Chief Executive Officer New Zealand Paralympic Committee

The French Athlete Career Programme website provides testimony of two French athletes talking about how important it is for athletes to combine education, sports and the work place career.
